I spent a glorious day printing “SunGardens” yesterday.
It’s rained nearly non-stop the entire month of May. Record breaking rain.
While I was gathering inks and paper together and deciding what to start with, the sun came out and stayed out all day long. It was glorious and turned into a wonderful morning printing and getting outside, enjoying the garden. The birds came to the feeder in droves and I made a large container of sweet lemon and mint iced tea and a small pound cake, then sat on the front porch for hours, part of the day with a good friend, soaking it all in.
bliss
I thought I would share what I printed with you. I used a wonderful archival quality German ink by Schminke that is water based and drys overnight so was able to pop these into my Etsy shop today.
My favorite is this blue one, I don’t know why, other than the soft pale periwinkle color I mixed was so soothing to look at (and I love blue). It shows up a little darker on the computer than it actually is.
I custom mixed all the colors and kept trying new mixes. I have numbered them as a variable edition since there are so many variations. 1/50VE ( the VE stands for variable edition)
They are 2 blocks carved separately. inked separately and then fit back together as a puzzle piece and handprinted.
I also loved this one with the light blue vines and orange sun face and of course only printed one. Lol
I used a deeper blue on this one.
And a little green on this one
And a couple with red vines and a more yellow orange face
Sweet Iced Tea, “…our tea runs somewhere between cotton candy sweet and sweet enough to liquify your teeth.” a quote from “Garden and Gun” magazine
also called (the house wine of the south) and my pound cake.
I have a couple of old t-shirts that I wear while printing and Ive started using the leftover ink to print all over them, mainly to cover up random marks and get a little more wear from them :-)
alas….its pouring rain again today ,but we have our little granddaughter to snuggle with, so all is well
Ive popped these “Sun Garden” prints into my Etsy Shop if you’d like one. Each unique in its own way and there are six different color ways.
Thankyou for subscribing to my newsletter. I really enjoy sharing a little of my printmaking and life here in the mountains. So wonderful to be able to reach out. If you ever have any questions, let me know. :-)
All the best,
Meg

I love this print! The orange and blue are beautiful together.
