Printmaker Notes 29
Owl and Moonflower
My Most recent linocut “Owl and Moonflower” is finished, freshly printed and is now available in my Etsy Shop.
I began sketching for this piece in November 2025.
I worked on it sporadically thru the holidays and during the quiet month of January.
I am pleased with how it printed, getting the rich dark black I love and still having my very fine lines showing.
There are more process photos on my previous post of Printmaker Notes 28, if you’d like to see a few more photos.
I’ve printed and editioned the first few and they are now listed in my Etsy Shop. I use Cranfield Ink (England) a beautiful highly pigmented and archival quality oil based ink and handprint on BFK Rives paper made by Arches, a historic French mill renowned for fine art paper. It’s 100% cotton and archival with traditional Watermark and deckled edge.
Thankyou so much for taking your time to read, comment, share or follow along on my art journey. Also many thanks to those who have purchased work of mine. Such a blessing to me and my practice and I am so very grateful.
Wishing you all the best,
Meg

This owl is a wonderful etching rendering hope well found. About 4 wks ago, I realized the pair of owls who had moved to the roof next door and were gaily catching food (owls need fur to pellet on so they can swallow food and digest it ) and leaving a small hill of bones on the porch walkway. A handy man shut off the eaves with netting. They took their nesting elsewhere. Two weeks later, we were burning leaves in the ditch. I looked up and an adult white owl with an orange streak and a brown streak on head was staring at me intently letting me know the family was still around and feasting. I haven't seen them since the weather's cold spell. A good many northern birds winter here.
Seeing your finished work gives me so much joy.
